How To Apply

Application for undergraduate admission to NC State and the Department of Wood & Paper Science (WPS) must be done on-line using WolfPAW, NC State’s Personal Admissions Website. Through WolfPAW you can also obtain information about visiting, open houses and tours, receive email reminders about important dates and deadlines and follow the status of your application.

A complete freshman application file must include:

  • The application for admission.
  • A  $70 non-refundable application fee (College Board Fee Waivers are accepted for freshman applicants is signed by a school counselor).
  • Your current high school transcript, including a list of senior year courses in progress, cumulative grade point average and class rank (if applicable).
  • Official SAT or ACT scores (including scores for the Writing section), sent directly from the testing agency to NC State (SAT code #5496, ACT code #3164).

NC State does not require letters of recommendation. Applications are reviewed for an admission decision only after all required items have been received.

A completed transfer application file must include:

  • A complete application.
  • A $70 non-refundable application fee (College Board Fee Waivers are not accepted for Transfer applications).
  • SAT or ACT scores are not required for transfer applications.
  • An official high school transcript sent. (This is used to verify completion of Minimum Course Requirements if you graduated after 1990 or to verify foreign language proficiency, regardless of when you graduated from high school.)
  • An official transcript sent from every institution you have attended since high school. For work completed at an accredited U.S. college or university, have the registrar(s) at the institution(s) send official transcripts of work to NC State Admissions. If there has been work completed at an institution outside of the U.S., official transcripts and an official "course-by-course" evaluation must be submitted from an accredited foreign credential evaluation service. The official evaluation must include course, grade, and credit equivalents in U.S. terms.

Application Deadlines

There are four different deadlines for applications as follows:

Deadline 1: October 15
Notification Date: December 15

Deadline 2 and Early Action Deadline: November 1
Notification Date: January 30
(Scores from the October 2007 SAT exam will arrive in time for Early Action applicants if sent electronically by the College Board when results for that exam are released.)

Deadline 3: December 1
Notification Date: March 15

Final Review Deadline: February 1
Final Review Notification Date: March 30

Applications submitted late will be considered on the basis of space availability.

Early Admissions Notification

Students who submit an application by November 1 are considered Early Action applicants. Applications for admission must be submitted and other materials postmarked by the November 1 deadline to be considered for any University-wide merit-based scholarships available to incoming freshmen.
