Research Interests
Federal and State Government’s Fire Management agencies, non-profit groups, and private citizens are beginning to utilize the capabilities of Geographic Information Systems when handling wildland fires. My interest lies in the applications of geospatial technologies in all aspects of wildland fire; pre-suppression, active incident and post assessment. From delineating downed woody debris after a hurricane with automated feature extraction techniques, to dynamically linking spatial and tabular databases, to making maps for the incident commander, geospatial analysis plays a vital role in wildland fire.
