Academic Offerings

FER Home : Fisheries & Wildlife Sciences : Academic Offerings

FER works with several other departments at NC State to provide a range of undergraduate, graduate and continuing educational programs in Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences.

Our undergraduate program emphasizes ecological and socioeconomic principles applied to natural resource management needs. It prepares graduates for advanced study or entry-level professional positions in agencies, organizations and industry. Certification by The Wildlife Society and The American Fisheries Society is covered as part of this program.

Our graduate level program includes a Masters of Science and non-thesis Masters degree option plus a PhD degree program.  Our graduate programs provide strong mentorship to students, emphasizing the scientific, scholarly and personal skills they will need to become leaders in their disciplines and to make important contributions to the future of fish, wildlife and aquaculture sciences.

Administration, teaching and research related to these academic programs is shared in conjunction with the Department of Zoology, while our faculty is augmented by members of the departments of Zoology, Agricultural & Resource Economics, Biological & Agricultural Engineering, Entomology, Environmental and Molecular Toxicology, Statistics, and the College of Veterinary Medicine.
