Enriching the Professional Harvest
September 22 and 23, 2005
NC State’s College of Natural Resources Community for Diversity proudly presents the first annual diversity summit, “Enriching the Professional Harvest.” The day and a half event will include a reception and dinner with keynote speaker, and a full day of workshop sessions designed to address the most pressing issues of diversity facing natural resources and environment. Attendance by more than 200 legislators, community leaders, corporate executives, industry partners, individual supporters, distinguished alumni, and university officers is expected.
This summit will explore the challenges and opportunities of successfully aligning student interests and academic programs with the needs of industry and communities to better serve a diverse world. Universities and industry must not only cease to ignore diversity, but must seek out and challenge their ability to embrace it fully. These workshops will address the issues of diversity head on.
The Community for Diversity is dedicated to making Natural Resources a welcoming profession for all populations. We will achieve this through university-industry partnerships, inter-institutional collaborations, and community focused programs.
Members include natural resource related departments at the following institutions: Tuskegee University, North Carolina A&T State University, St. Augustine's College, North Carolina Central University, Shaw University, and North Carolina State University.
