NC State Natural Resources Foundation, Inc.
About the Foundation
The NC State Natural Resources Foundation, Inc. (NCSNRF) was established in 1929 as the NC Forestry Foundation, Inc., the oldest foundation on NC State’s campus. The Foundation is governed by a 16-member Board of Directors, which oversees more than $150 million in assets. The Board works closely with staff to promote College of Natural Resources.
The foundation strives to meet all the needs of CNR, particularly external support including: scholarships, fellowships and professorships; operating funds for programs; advisory and advocacy groups for academic and research programs; fundraising capability; management of land holdings; and stewardship of donor gifts and fundung support for CNR’s Development Office.
Prior to July 1, 2008 CNR was served by two charitable organizations:
- The North Carolina Forestry Foundation, Inc. was founded in 1929 to support the Department of Forestry (today, College of Natural Resources) and is the oldest foundation on NC State’s campus. It primary responsibility was to manage the Hofmann Forest.
- The Pulp and Paper Foundation, Inc. was founded in 1954 to support the Pulp and Paper Technology (today, Paper Science & Engineering) program. As a membership organization, it raised funds to support student scholarships and worked closely with faculty and staff to provide internships, co-ops and jobs for students.
